The attractive villages of Caputh, Geltow and Ferch lie on the shores of beautiful Schwielowsee lake and make up the municipality of Schwielowsee in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district of Brandenburg, Germany. The Schwielowsee lake is fed by the waters of the River Havel flowing southwards from the Templiner See lake to the north through a channel at Caputher (Caputher Gemünde).

 The Schwielowsee lake is part of a chain of lakes of the middle Havel. It covers an area of 786 hectare, is 5.4 km long and has a maximum width of 2.0 km. In an area of outstanding beauty the lake provides a wide range of recreational opportunities both on and off the water.
